We all know that QSI laser diode is synonymous with good performance, so many industrialized manufacturers will wonder if Korean QSI laser diode can be packaged into modules. How is it usually driven after it is packaged? Let's take a look at it together.
Can Korean QSI laser diode be packaged into modules? The answer is yes. Although a single laser diode is small in size and high in precision, it requires high heat dissipation, driving circuit and optical adjustment directly, and it is not stable for ordinary people to weld it casually. Making it into a laser module is actually "secondary processing". The chip is added with driving circuit, heat dissipation structure, collimating lens, and sometimes optical filter or optical fiber output. In this way, the user gets a plug-and-play small module, and does not have to entangle those details.
How to drive the laser module?
Laser diode is different from ordinary LED. LED lights up when you power it on directly, but laser diode is particularly sensitive to current, and the driving circuit must be controlled by constant current. If the current fluctuates too much or the impact current is too large, the chip may be scrapped instantly. Therefore, the laser module in the market generally has its own driving circuit, and when an appropriate voltage is input to it, it will automatically adjust the current to the working range required by the laser diode. One more thing, many modules will design soft-start circuits to prevent a big impact on the diode as soon as it is powered on.
Tell me a real case. Some time ago, a manufacturer of dust detectors found us. They used to buy bare tubes to make their own modules. As a result, the debugging was always unstable. Sometimes when the temperature is high, the laser spot shifts and the sensor detection data jumps. Later, it was replaced by a module supported by QSI original factory, in which temperature control and current protection were done. It was almost unnecessary to adjust when plugged in, and the data was much more stable, and the after-sales problems were directly reduced by more than half.
So to sum up, QSI's laser diode can be made into a module, and the drive is a constant current drive as the core, with protection circuit and optical adjustment. For many terminal manufacturers, the advantage of modularization is to lower the use threshold, so that you can use high-quality light sources without being a laser expert.
