We all know that laser diodes are widely used in daily life. After watching the military parade, we know that many lasers are gradually becoming civilian. Do you know what functions civilian lasers have? What industries can low-power laser diodes be used in?
First, what is the role of civil laser?
To talk about the role of civil laser, it can be simply divided into three categories: measurement and display.
1. Measurement: distance measurement, thickness measurement and angle measurement.
For example, the range finder on the construction site, the laser levels and the scanning module on the automatic sorting machine in the warehouse all rely on the accurate data "measured" by the laser.
The laser beam is concentrated and directional, so it can accurately measure the distance of millimeters or even microns, which is impossible for ordinary LED light.
2. Display: indicating, positioning and displaying.
Laser pens, stage lights, and laser level gauges all rely on the high brightness and directionality of lasers to make "points" or "lines" clearly visible in space.
2. What industries can low-power laser diodes be used in?
When many people listen to "laser diode", they think that it is a kind of high-power equipment that can cut metal at a few watts. In fact, the low-power laser diode is the most widely used and demanding type.
Common application industries mainly include the following:
1. Consumer electronics
For example, scanner gun, projector, VR positioning module, infrared sensor. The laser power used in this kind of products is usually about 1mW to 5mW, which is safe and energy-saving.
Low-power red and infrared laser diodes of brands such as QSI in South Korea are often used as positioning light sources by mobile phone factories and VR factories.
2. Industrial testing category
On the automatic production line, laser is used to detect size, displacement and alignment position. For example, the red light in the smoke particle detector is usually emitted by a 635nm laser diode.
Korean QSI and other brands of laser diodes, from red light, green light to ultraviolet light, from 1mW to several hundred mW, can find the corresponding civilian models.
Although they are small, they constitute the most basic and reliable part of the modern photoelectric industry.
