LG Innotek has developed the world's first antiseptic Ultraviolet (UV) -c LED, with output power of up to 100 milliwatts (mW). It is expected to be completed two years ahead of the industry that is only likely to be developed by 2020.
Uv-c LED, also known as Deep UV (Deep UV), is an ultraviolet product with a shorter emission wavelength of 200~ 280nm (nm). LED developed by LG Innotek destroys bacterial DNA at 278nm wavelength and reacts with special substances, acting on sterilization or hardening devices, etc.
Uv-c LED can create sterilization device with higher light output and stronger sterilization, but it is difficult to ensure quality stability due to problems such as heating. Japanese companies, which have long LED the market, also plan to launch 100mW uv-c leds by 2020.
LG Innotek broke the technical limit by applying the epitaxial structure and vertical chip technology with the maximum optical output. Improve the uv output and effectively discharge the heat, ensuring the stable quality of the feasibility. 100mW1 LED can emit strong sterilization ultraviolet ray up to 10,000 hours.
This LG Innotek can expand the application area of uv-c LED more rapidly by developing light output 100mW product. It can be used not only in water purifier, air purifier and other household appliances, but also in the air conditioning system of buildings and cars and water treatment equipment.
Most of the original UV-C LED output is 1~2mW, mainly used in portable sterilizer or small household appliances. This is because uv-c output is weak and it is difficult to expand the application.
LG Innotek has been discussing various products of uv-c LED development with a number of global companies for many years, and the market has been eager to introduce high-output LED, so the need for 100mW uv-c LED is expected to grow rapidly.

The output value of UV LED market will grow to 288 million us dollars (about 1.956 billion RMB) in 2017, according to the 2017 market report of ultraviolet LED and module application of jibang consulting LED research center (LEDinside). In 2020, the figure will be 526 million us dollars (equivalent to about 3.573 billion RMB yuan), and the compound growth rate (CAGR) will reach 34% from 2015 to 2020.
