2. Compared with traditional UV mercury lamp, UV LED has many advantages, such as no mercury, environmental protection, low power consumption, wavelength controllable, long life, flexible application design and so on.

From the technical difficulty point of view, mercury lamp has developed for so many years, the technology has been very mature, and UV LED is in the ascendant, belongs to the high-tech industry, the technical threshold is very high, from equipment, epitaxy, chip to packaging technology requirements are very high, for example, from packaging technology, because UV LED emitted light, wavelength is very short, If traditional white LED packaging is used, the organic packaging materials will undergo molecular dissociation damage, aging and yellowing under long-term high-temperature and high-energy ultraviolet radiation conditions, thus greatly reducing the reliability of UV LED. At the same time, because organic materials are generally non-airtight, breathable and moisture permeable. Problems such as gas, especially water vapor, can easily invade the chip surface, affect the chip life or cause chip failure. So technically speaking, the characteristics of UV LED require inorganic packaging, while having a certain degree of airtightness.
